Visiting Saddington Grange Nursing Home
On the first Monday of every month, a small
group of retired NLCF members (lovingly know as the “Golden Oldies”) visit
Saddington nursing home to lead a short half-hour service of praise and worship,
and to offer fellowship with the residents.
The usual format on arrival is to mingle with
residents (most of them are elderly and infirm), to offer a smile and a friendly
word. We then open the service with a welcome and a prayer, before singing
around 4 hymns, carefully chosen for the age group and to accommodate old
favourites. In between the hymns we have Bible readings and a message, often
given by Mrs Flo Bull; a member of the local church in Saddington.
After the service (which is fairly informal)
we again mingle with the residents and staff to chat, and offer prayer if
requested. We all enjoy our short time together, and the “Golden Oldies” feel
blessed and called by our Lord to do this work in this way, and use it as our
Life Group's “outreach”.
