Church History |
We have grown from small
beginnings in November 1995 when a small group of people met informally in a
local house, to our first public meeting on the 6th Jan 1996 in Fleckney Village
hall. In July 1996 we invited Richard Carstairs to become pastor and establish
our church. During these early years we joined
Ichthus
fellowship of churches
and the Evangelical alliance became a registered charity.
The name of the fellowship
was chosen to reflect this original vision:
|
New Life – Life is characterised by change we need to remain flexible in order for the Holy Spirit to change and remould us, we want to be alive in the Holy Spirit.
|
|
Christian
– We will keep Jesus at the centre of
everything we do and will endeavour to apply
his teaching and example to our own lives.
|
|
Fellowship – We will devote ourselves to worship and pray we will share our lives as fully as we can in an attitude of love and commitment to one another. |
In August 2000 Richard
moved on to work for the West Midlands police. A new pastor was sought from
Ichthus and Andy Lanning
joined us in November 2000. Andy was with us for 5 years and encouraged us to be
more community minded. He continued to develop links with the local churches and
to formally established Fleckney churches together. Andy left in Sept 2005 and
moved on to work for the Prison service
Since Sept 2005 the
church has been led by a leadership team who are responsible for the vision and spiritual direction of NLCF.
